Welcome to Maryvale Softball

We wanted to reach out to our Maryvale Softball Youth community and their families and provide you with an update while also checking in to see how you're doing.  We hope that everyone in the community is doing well and doing their best to cope with the current state of affairs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

What used to be the "norm" for us at Maryvale Softball has now become fluid and is continually changing our approach to protect our players, parents, volunteers and their families.  While the Maryvale Softball community, has shown nothing but support, adaptability and understanding for the past 65 years, we wanted to thank you for your patience and diligence specifically surrounding the events associated with COVID-19,  that have impacted all aspects of our lives, including the 2020 Maryvale Softball Youth Season.

For the safety of all of our Maryvale Softball family and friends, it is with a heavy heart, we have decided to cancel 2020 Maryvale Softball Youth Season.  We have to make the right decision that will protect all of the members of our community. The decision on our season has been guided by Public Health, Toronto Parks and Recreation and the Provincial recommendations.

This decision is one the Maryvale Softball Executive hoped they would never have to be make, but it is the right one and the only one to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all.

To summarize:

  • Parks are only open for walking, cycling and running. Parks amenities are closed inducing playgrounds, sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, off-leash dog parks and many more until June 30th.
  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in response to the recent provincial emergency order to prohibit organized public events and social gatherings of more than five people.
  • The City of Toronto will not be in a position to issue new permits until there is further direction on mass gatherings from Toronto's Medical Officer of Health.

Please know that the Maryvale Softball Executive has been in discussions since we were first made aware of the social distancing restrictions from Toronto's Medical Officer of Health, our Mayor John Tory and Premier Doug Ford and that we discussed every imaginable way to still have a safe 2020 Maryvale Softball Youth Season.

This is a first for us at Maryvale Softball. Usually by now, we would have conducted several in-person registrations, coaches/umpire/pitching clinics, players would have met their new coaches and fellow teammates and begun to develop their skills via practices while preparing to start their regular season, after the Victoria Day long weekend.  With that being said, this Spring/Summer will look like nothing like what we are used to but one thing I have learned in the 31 years I have been part of the our Maryvale Softball community either as a player, volunteer, coach, umpire or as part of the Executive is that Maryvale Softball is resilient and we will overcome this too.

We want to thank all of the parents/guardians, players, umpires and volunteers for everything you do for Maryvale Softball and your continued support each and every season. Without all of your hard work and dedication, Maryvale Softball would not be as successful. We hope that the 2021 season will be bigger and better than it has ever been before.

When this crisis is over and the Public Health allows us to regroup, it is our hope to host various skill clinics this summer if timing and weather will allow it.  These events will be posted via our Facebook group, there will be no fee for past/current Maryvale Softball players however, you will have to register for the "event" via the Facebook.

In regards to refunds, please be patient with us. Every registered Youth player will receive a full refund in due time.

  • If you paid by cash, cheque or E-transfer, the refund will be given in the form of a cheque. All cheques will be made out to the primary contact on your account and mailed to their address. The registrar (Judy Morgan) will be emailing all youth registered to confirm this information prior to sending the cheques out.

If you would like us to maintain your registration funds and apply them to your 2021 season, please let us know in writing so we have record.

Most importantly, Maryvale Softball is part of a MUCH larger community and as much as we are social beings, it is of the utmost importance that everyone do their part to help slow the rate of COVID-19 infection in Ontario.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions/concerns. We wish all of our Maryvale Softball Youth players, coaches, parents and volunteers a safe and healthy remainder of 2020.

Looking forward to seeing everyone take the field in 2021!!!
